Family Member Name
Nana/Barbara:The Live Oak of the Family
Unwavering Center and Keeper of Wisdom

Nana

In a life where the scenery changes daily, Nana is our bedrock. She is the source of unwavering stability and consistent warmth, providing the emotional shelter (our "canopy") that keeps us grounded no matter where we park the RV. She reminds us of our deepest values and traditions, connecting us to our past while we race toward our future. She truly is the calm, steady force that makes this chaotic life possible.

Family Member Name
Mom/Bri:Magpie Matriarch
Brilliant Keeper and Chief Organizer

Mom/Bri

Bri is our highly perceptive Magpie Matriarch. With a sharp eye for detail and a resourceful nature, she's the one who notices everythingβ€”from the best camp spot to who needs an extra layer of protection. She gathers and protects the essentials: managing the logistics, organizing the tiny RV space, and ensuring the "nest" is always safe, comfortable, and well-stocked. She’s the brain that keeps this machine running smoothly.

Family Member Name
Zee:Geode Granddaughter
Quiet Observer and Source of Insight

Zee

Zee is the Geode is the teenager. She might seem quiet on the surface, observing the world from her cozy bunk, but she holds a stunning inner world of creativity and intellect. Her observations are deep, insightful, and often surprising. When she opens up about a historical site or shares her perspective on a new town, her brilliance shines throughβ€”adding a layer of unique, thoughtful depth to all our adventures.

Family Member Name
JJ:Urban Explorer
Chief Investigator and Fun Finder

JJ

The youngest member of the crew is JJ, Urban Explorer. Moving with the agility of a raccoon and the curiosity of a squirrel, JJ is the Chief Investigator of every new city, trail, or national park. He is constantly scouting, finding hidden paths, and unearthing the unique treasures (rocks, sea shells, shiny things, odd sticks) of every location. They turn every ordinary stop into a grand, adventurous scavenger hunt!

Dog Name
Dash
Aged Leather Map

Dash

Dash is the senior statesman of the RV, our Aged Leather Map. Well-worn, deeply trusted, and full of character, he is a reminder that the best journeys take time. While he may not dart down every new path, he provides a solid, low-to-the-ground stability for the whole family. He carries the "scent" of home and routine with him everywhere, making every new campsite instantly feel familiar and safe. He's the one who settles down first and reminds everyone that sometimes, the best part of traveling is simply resting together at the end of the day.

Dog Name
Gabe
Enthusiastic Pioneer and Energy Source

Gabe

Gabe, our younger pup, is pure excitementβ€”our Kinetic Compass. He doesn't just point the way; he is the boundless, wriggling energy that drives us to explore every new area. He moves with a quick, happy curiosity, sniffing out every novel smell and ensuring no small critter goes unalerted. He’s the first to welcome a new morning and the one who sees every rest stop as a five-star dog park. Gabe ensures our days are filled with spontaneous detours, joyful wags, and the sheer, simple fun of discovery.

Our Story: From Settled to Nomadic

In 2020, we made a decision that would change our lives forever. We sold our house, packed up our belongings, and moved into a 36-foot RV. Why? Because we wanted more than the traditional American dreamβ€”we wanted adventure, education, and connection.

Our journey isn't just about seeing beautiful places (though we've seen plenty!). It's about tracing our roots, visiting the sites where our ancestors made history, and teaching the children that the world is their classroom.

We fund our travels through remote work and freelance services, sponsors, and donations, proving that you don't have to choose between career and adventure. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Why We Chose RV Life

The benefits that keep us on the road

πŸ—½

Ultimate Freedom

Wake up to new views, explore at our own pace, and live life on our terms. No more being tied to one location or missing out on experiences.

Real Example: Last month we spent two weeks in New England exploring Black history sites, then moved to the coast for beach time.
πŸ›οΈ

Heritage Connection

We can visit the places where our ancestors lived, worked, and made history. Every trip is a pilgrimage to our roots.

Real Example: Traced family genealogy to specific locations and visited them in personβ€”something impossible with traditional living.

World-Class Education

Museums, national parks, historical sitesβ€”these are our classrooms. Learning isn't confined to textbooks anymore.

Your Questions Answered

Everything you want to know about our RV lifestyle

We've been living full-time in our RV since 2020. Time flies when you're making memories! We started with a trial period of 6 months and never looked back. The freedom and experiences have been worth every challenge.

We work remotely and have built businesses that allow us to earn while we explore. Our services include genealogy research, website design, and RV consulting. Check out our services page to see what we do!

We also keep our expenses low by boondocking (free camping), utilyzing rv campground memberships, (Thousand Trails), Taking advantage of programs i.e Passport America, NARM, ASTC, cooking our own meals, and being strategic about where we travel.

We roadschool! It's a form of homeschooling that uses travel as the primary educational tool. Every destination becomes a classroomβ€”museums, national parks, historical sites, and cultural experiences.

Learn more about our approach on our roadschooling page, where we share resources, curriculum ideas, and real-world examples.

Honestly? Sometimes! But the adventures and memories far outweigh the challenges. We've learned to pace ourselves and create "home base" periods when needed.

We typically spend 2-4 weeks in each location, which gives us time to really explore and not feel rushed. We also take breaks in places we love to recharge like Louisiana or Masschusetts

The biggest challenges are limited space, RV maintenance, health issues, such as nana's diabetes and being away from extended family. But we've developed systems and routines that make it work.

We also stay connected with family through social media, phone calls, video calls, and they love visiting us in different locations!

Absolutely! That's what our RV Launchpad service is all about. We provide personalized consulting to help families transition to full-time RV living.

We cover everything from choosing the right RV, to planning your route, to setting up remote work, to roadschooling strategies.

We use a mail forwarding service that gives us a permanent address. They scan our mail and forward it to wherever we are for a small cost. Most of our bills and documents are digital now.

We have health insurance that works nationwide, and we schedule regular checkups when we're near major cities. Nana has Medicad coverage wherever we trave. We also carry a well-stocked first aid kit and know where urgent care facilities are in each area.
